Terms of Service

Plain-English summary: be a decent person, don't try to break the app or other people's accounts, and remember that we're a small team doing our best. The detailed terms follow.

1. Agreement

By using Mahj & Friends ("the app", "the service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Mahj & Friends, and old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into a binding agreement. If you're under 18, your parent or guardian should review these Terms.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure — your email, password, and any device that's signed in. You may not impersonate another person, use an offensive handle, or share your account credentials. We reserve the right to remove handles or display names that are abusive, hateful, or impersonating someone else.

4. What you can and can't do

You may:

• Use the app to play mahjong with people you invite or who invite you.
• Create clubs and tournaments for your own group.
• Share invite links and codes with anyone you'd actually like to play with.

You may not:

• Try to cheat, exploit bugs, or manipulate the rules engine.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source of the app.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other players inside or outside the app.
• Use the service to violate any law.
• Scrape, automate, or use the app for any purpose other than playing mahjong with friends.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app or any part of it.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

Mahj+ Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed monthly or annually through your Apple ID. You can cancel any time in your iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Apple manages all payments; we don't see your card information. Subscriptions auto-renew within 24 hours before the period ends unless cancelled.

Tile sets and felt themes are one-time non-consumable purchases. Once bought, they remain available on any device signed in to your Apple ID via "Restore Purchases".

Refunds are handled by Apple per the App Store refund policy at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds directly.

6. NMJL rules and the card

Mahj & Friends implements gameplay following the rules of the National Mah Jongg League ("NMJL"). The hand patterns are based on the official annual NMJL card. The app is independently developed and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NMJL. Players who want the official printed card should buy one from nationalmahjonggleague.org and support the League.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of anything you write or post in the app (club board posts, profile bio, etc.). By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display that content within the app as part of normal operation. You're responsible for what you post.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This is permanent.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, especially around cheating, harassment, or fraud. We'll try to give notice when reasonable.

9. The app, "as is"

Mahj & Friends is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, freedom from bugs, or compatibility with every device. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms over time. Material changes will be flagged in-app. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
